About the Film

"In 2020 Chizzy Akudolu was diagnosed with clinical depression. A successful and well loved actor Chizzy was a popular character in Doctors and appeared to have a charmed life. But underneath she was suffering. This is her story. Chizzy tells the story of a passionate mental health advocate striving to break the stigma around mental health and well-being. Director’s Note

When I set out to create “Chizzy,” I knew it had to be more than just a story — it had to be a movement. Mental health is often treated as an afterthought, but for so many people, it is a daily reality that shapes their world. Chizzy's story resonated deeply with me because it embodies courage, compassion, and the relentless pursuit of change.

This film is my way of amplifying her voice and, by extension, the voices of countless others who feel unseen or unheard. It’s a reminder that advocacy doesn't have to be loud to be powerful. Sometimes, the quiet, steady work of showing up, speaking out, and offering support is enough to spark a revolution.

I hope this film reminds viewers that they are never alone. We all have a role to play in normalising mental health conversations. Whether you are a listener, a supporter, or someone seeking help yourself — you matter.

Thank you for watching, for feeling, and for taking one step closer to a world with more empathy and understanding.
